1. POPULATION GROWTH
- The population of Agra city is 12.75 lakhs as per Census 2001 with a decadal growth
rate of 30.37 per cent. During the post- independence period commerce showed a phenomenal increase with the associated industrial development and establishment of industrial estate, which resulted i n the increase of city population.

In last four decades, the decadal growth rate was maximum of 32.15 per cent during 1971-81 (Table 3.1). The increase in the Nagar Nigam limits in the year 1981 attributed to the increase in population and high growth rate.
As per Census 2001, the total number of wards in the city is 80. The ward wise population is given in Annexure 3.1. The 80 wards of Nagar Nigam for revenue collection purpose are reorganized into 8 revenue wards (Map 2). Now Agra Nagar Nigam is in the process of further delimiting the wards into 90 for election purposes.
